Morning persons have it easier, they love when their day begins and they get up and get everything they need done before leaving for work or school. For some of us it isn’t that easy getting up out of bed, wouldn’t it be nice if we could take one thing off our ‘to do list’ in the morning. What if you could do your hair overnight and all you’d have to do the next morning was shake it out and use some curl hydrator or (product of your choice) to wake up those curls?
Most of us have seen Youtuber Syria Jade wake up with those banging curls, and wonder how she sleeps with her curls without ruining them but what actually goes into keeping curly hair curly overnight. It’s not any special trick or technique, it is just a couple of little things that you can do to help maintain your curls overnight.
#1 Satin Pillowcase
Thanks to the natural hair community everybody is spreading the word about satin pillowcases or bonnet as a staple to have for your curls as you sleep. But what is a satin pillowcase? Well it’s exactly that a satin pillowcase. A satin pillowcase is a pillowcase made from satin it helps to keep the shape of your curls and keeps your hair from frizzing out as you toss and turn all night long. It is also claimed to prevent split ends. You can buy at Amazon.
#2 Satin Bonnet
Satin Bonnets are basically a showering cap but made with satin instead of that plastic stuff. It covers your hair as you sleep and protects it from frizziness or your curls reshaping. I personally don’t like the satin bonnet, not that it doesn’t work but for me, it remains me of those wives that when they’re husbands wake up they see a bonnet covering a wrap and rollers and that’s not me. I can’t sleep well with those things on my head. You can buy it at Amazon.
#3 Pineapple Method
The pineapple method is catching up your curls with a hair tie at the top of your hair leaving your curls out thus creating the pineapple updo. The updo is a versatile hairstyle for both night and day. At night, it protects your curls as you sleep, at day, it’s a rocking hairstyle that shows off your curls. The pineapple updo is one of the simplest hairstyles to keep your curls protected as you sleep.
#4 Curly Bun
Another great versatile hairstyle night and day hairstyle. The Curly bun is personally my favourite in keeping my curls overnight. The curly bun ensures that your ends are protected as you sleep, this prevents split ends and stretches your curls and keeps their shape while you sleep. Be sure to keep it loose though.
These are all great ways to keep your curly hair curly overnight. If you try any one of these take a before and after picture to firstname.lastname@example.org so I can share your results or if there are any methods you think I should add leave a comment down below.
