A scalp massager, gives your scalp a massage which in turns circulates blood flow to your head which increases hair growth. The Vanity Planet Groove Rejuvenating Scalp Massager has gained some popularity over the course of the last couple years with big name Youtubers like SyriaJade promoting the massager but, is it worth it? So I decided to buy it and see if it truly works.
The product description on Amazon is;
A scalp massage is an easy shortcut to relaxation and stress release – just think about how great you feel after having your hair shampooed at the salon. But scalp massage comes with a ton of additional benefits – it increases blood flow to your scalp to promote hair growth, distributes natural oils to boost hair luster, and can help to control or even eliminate dandruff. The Vanity Planet Groove Rejuvenating Scalp Massager is a gently vibrating handheld massager that gives you all the benefits of a salon scalp massage in your own shower.
The Vanity Planet Groove Rejuvenating Scalp Massager is water-resistant and fits perfectly in the palm of your hand, allowing you to use as little or as much pressure as you’d like. It has flexible rubber tips that comfortably stimulate and gently exfoliate your scalp while lathering up your favorite shampoo, or distributing your favorite conditioner or hydrating hair oil. You can also use the Vanity Planet Rejuvenating Scalp Massager outside of the shower to unwind.
Available in Bombshell Blue, Just Peachy, Hello Sunshine, Minty Green, and Pucker-Up Pink.( I have Bombsell Blue 😉 )
And basically this is the product in its full description, it matches everything.
How to Use the Scalp Massager
According to Amazon;
- Apply a small amount of your favorite shampoo, conditioner, or hair oil to your scalp and distribute through the roots of your hair.
- Press the On/Off button to activate the vibration on your Vanity Planet Groove Rejuvenating Scalp Massager.
- Hold the massager in the palm of your hand with the rubber tips facing away from you and the handle in between your index and middle fingers for a firmer grip and better control.
- Starting at the front of your head, slowly move the brush over your entire scalp, using as much or as little pressure as you’d like, and taking care to spend extra time on areas where you may have noticed flaking, dry scalp, or product buildup.
- Note: If you have long hair, take care not to pull through the length of your hair.
- When finished, press the On/Off button to deactivate the vibration, and rinse any shampoo suds or residue from the rubber tips.
But of course, as you may have learned from my previous review, I do things differently.
When I am doing a cleansing wash using my DevaCurl Buildup Buster ( full review on DevaCurl Buildup Buster) I directly apply the product onto the brush and use the brush while it is on the highest vibration and massage it through my scalp.
On my normal wash days I will do a pre-massage with my fingers to get my shampoo onto my scalp and the use the scalp massager. My reasoning is my normal shampoo is much thicker, but really I’ve just never thought to use the same technique. I do turn it off when I’m finished and rinse off shampoo residue and usually I have to wipe off the battery compartment because water seeps into it, but that’s my own fault.
Using it with my oils I either do a pre-massage or I directly pour some oil on the scalp massager, flip my hair upside down and use the scalp massager.
Maintaining your Vanity Planet Groove Rejuvenating Scalp Massager
Really, its just removing the shampoo or oil residue fromt he bristles and not to be like me and fully submerge the scalp massager in water. I have submerge this thing a handful of times, not on purpose (sometimes) and other times to test the durability.
It is suprisingly durable, I am a clumsy person by nature so I’ll trip and fall or something will fall out of my hands. I’ve had Vanity Planet Groove Rejuvenating Scalp Massager for about 5 months now and I cannot count the amount of times I’ve dropped the darn thing. Just this Monday gone when I was doing my cleansing wash I dopped the thing twice and it bounced all over my tiled floor.
So the fact that Its still working is a big surprise for me, I honestly didn’t expect this product to be that strong. I’ve only had to change the batteries once ( it uses one AA battery) and wipe out the batter compartment because of all the water that had seeped through the battery compartment because I disobeyed instructions and submerged the massager fully under water.
The Battery Compartment
The battery compartment is relatively small covered with a retangular shape cover screwed on. To open the compartment, just use the complimentary screwdriver that ships with every box to unscrew the cover and right underneath is the battery.
If it gets wet just pull out the battery and either change it or wipe it off and wipe off the compartment; when water touches it, a yellow-orange colour starts to appear. It simple to remove to use a cloth to wipe it off.
The BIG Question- Is it worth it?
The Vanity Planet Groove Rejuvenating Scalp Massager is most definitely worth it. Officially water- resistant, unofficially water-proof, the scalp massager reigns true on all its claims, with a rating of 3.9 stars out of 5 on Amazon.
With two different vibration speeds, so you get a choice, it does feel relaxing when you use this product; kinda like when your at the salon and they wash your hair and give your scalp a mini massage and your relaxed and ready to fall asleep. For me, it gets the nitty gritty dirt that your fingers don’t get and it gives your scalp an extra clean feeling.
Did I also mention how chic the packaging box is? Seriously the box is gorgeous I didn’t even throw mine away, I kept it and in each box you get a screwdriver for the battery cover and a little card with a secret discount code just for your next purchase, with an awesome thank you for purchasing message.
- Durable/Long Lasting
- Two vibration speeds
- Easy to hold handle
- Economically priced
(I couldn’t think of any cons)
